Disorder of cardiac valves caused by stenosis and obstructive blood flow or degeneration and blood regurgitation.
Valve between the left ventricle and the aorta that prevents blood from flowing from the aorta back into the heart.
Situated between the left atrium and left ventricle it allows blood to flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle, preventing backflow. Also called bicuspid valve, left atrioventricular valve.
Abnormal heart sounds caused by alterations in the flow of blood into a chamber, through a valve, or by a valve opening or closing abnormally. Not all heart diseases cause murmurs and not all murmurs indicate heart disease.
Valve with three cusps, situated between the right atrium and the right ventricle of the heart. It allows the passage of blood from the atrium to the ventricle and closes to prevent backflow. Also called right atrioventricular valve.
