1	I just can't see some pages of this section. Why?

2	I'm using Firefox (or another Gecko based browser). Some search engines fail to respond correctly, they just take me back to the main page of the Gopher site no matter what the query is. What's wrong?

3	What about DOS or FreeDOS? Firefox isn't released for these operating systems.

4	I typed in a Gopher site address, but my browser either returns an error message or keeps displaying a web page. What's going on?

5	Newsgroups about gopher mentioned at the bottom of this page are rather inactive. Is this all that remains from the gopher community?

1	Q:	I just can't see some pages of this section. Why?
	A:	You're probably using a browser that doesn't support the gopher protocol. For instance, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera won't work for Gopher sites. Get Mozilla Firefox or SeaMonkey and see the difference.

	A:	This is a known problem of Firefox which only uses port 70 for the Gopher protocol, so when a search engine uses another port this problem occurs. It's been filed as Mozilla bug 158888, feel free to vote for it. As a work around you may use Lynx, dmoz has a dedicated category.

	A:	If you're running DOS or FreeDOS then the graphical browser Arachne or the DOS port of the text-only browser Lynx are what you need. Both are free and open source.

	A:	You probably forgot to add gopher:// before the address. Most web browsers assume that you want to visit a world wide web site and add automatically http:// if you don't do it yourself. If you want to use another protocol, like ftp or gopher, then you'll have to type the prefix.

	A:	Not really. Today the nerve centre of the Gopher community is a mailing list. You'll find more information here.
