1   General E-Book Questions
1.1   Q: What is an e-book?
A: The term e-book is as often misused as it is used. The term e-book applies to electronic book readers, known as slates, as well as electronic book titles. For clarity, it is best to specify which term you mean. For example, "I just found this great e-book title, called .....", or "I use the Rocket eBook reader - its great!".

1.3   Q: What is an e-book title?
A: Any book or title published in electronic form, specifically for the purpose of being read on a e-book reader, can be considered an e-book title.

This means that a HTML page, or a Word document, or even a text file, isn't really an e-book title. We have a different term for this - an e-text.

1.4   Q: What is an e-text?
A: An e-text is a text that is stored in electronic form. How, you may ask, is that different from an e-book? An e-book title has been specially converted and formated to be used with an e-book reader. This may seem like a question of symantics, but it is *very* important to be able to distinguish between e-book readers, e-books, and e-texts.

1.5   Q: How is electronic publishing related to e-books?
A: Electronic publishing is the art of publishing (amoungst other things) electronic books. But it also covers a wide range of other types of publications, such as web sites, newsletters, and more.

2.2   Q: What sites WON'T be accepted into Computers/E-Books?
A:

Sites that aren't related to e-books. If you have e-texts, then submit them into the appropriate category of ODP - e-books is *not* relevant. Recent examples of rejected submissions include - sites on computing books, book reviews, sites that have absolutely nothing to do with e-books.

Sorry if this seems harsh, but too many people try to polute the category with bizarre listings.

Also sites in languages other than English are not listed here but in the appropriate category under World/. See also the links "This category in other languages" on the category page.
