The formats used by software applications to store different types of documents.

Office Open XML

An XML-based file format specification for electronic documents such as memos, reports, books, spreadsheets, charts, presentations and word processing documents, created by Microsoft. Also commonly referred to as OOXML, or Open XML.

OpenDocument

The OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (often abbreviated to OpenDocument or ODF) is an open format for saving and exchanging documents such as formatted text, spreadsheets, databases, charts, and presentations.

OpenOffice XML

Sites with documentation and other information related to the OpenOffice XML format used in version 1 of the OpenOffice.org suite. Sites relating to OpenDocument do not belong here, and should instead be submitted to the dedicated OpenDocument category.

OpenOffice XML is the native file format used by version 1.x of the OpenOffice.org office application suite.

In version 2.0, the format has now been superceded by the OpenDocument standard.

Text

Formats of files used to store text documents, these files are typically created and manipulated with word processors, text editors or other specialised editors.
