For want of a better name I've used Team Rooms. A Team Room is an online collaborative space designed to help people work together online. These are sometimes called Virtual Offices, but I believe that limits the concept a bit. The emphasis is on working together, therefore I prefer Team in the description. You can think of this as an online meeting place focused on keeping you in touch and in sync on projects and events.
Team Rooms frequently provide group and project management applications such as shared calendars for scheduling events and projects, to do lists, discussion areas, voting/polling areas, and file storage areas. They may also provide email and other community building tools, such as a link collection for the group, photo albums, etc.
Team Rooms are being used more and more frequently by mobile professionals, as well as by geographically dispersed teams working on joint projects. There is also a growing trend toward geographically co-located teams using Team Rooms to provide centralized location for all changes and results of the work. Families and friends are also using them to keep in touch with each other. Some Team Rooms are specifically focused on non-business groups and organizations such as family and friends.
