Mumming Plays are traditional folk theatre found all over the UK. Performances are generally outdoors and seasonal (often around Christmas time or at Easter in some localities). Groups are known variously as Mummers, Guisers, Soulcakers and various other local names. In modern times mummers plays are often performed by groups of morris dancers.
