Please list websites containing information about the human and natural environments and scientific activities specific to Hawaii. This category is also for scientific or environmental organization or issue specific Hawaii websites.

1. Sites of primarily topical appeal may be best listed at the appropriate subcategory under Top: Science. However, due to some sites geographical scope, it is appropriate to list relevant sites in both Top: Science and Hawaii Science and Environment or the relevant locality Science and Environment category. The informational component of business or firm sites that contain substantial information on its Hawaii scientific or environmental topic may be listed in Hawaii Science and Environment.

2. Please do not deeplink, list interior website pages, unless the deeplink has substantial, original, relevant Hawaii specific content.

In other words, phrases like "Welcome to ..." and "Your friendly/local ..." are both superfluous and destined for deletion. In turn, the Description should be free of personal pronouns and worded the way an observer and/or reviewer of the site would describe it and its content. Thus "Our mission is to serve your needs" needs altering to something like "Company's emphasis is on customer service." In effect, the title and description should simply let people know who's at the back of it and what information it contains or conveys."

The rule of thumb is: can it read common GIS data formats in their native form? Or operate as a plugin for an app which is normally considered a GIS? (ArcInfo, ArcView, ERMapper, PCI, GRASS, MapInfo, Spring, SmallWorld, Manifold, TnTMips, etc.) If not, it probably belongs in Graphics/3D/Rendering_and Modelling/Terrain.

For example ArcView 3D Analyst and Genesis II are appropriate, World Construction Set is not, (though EcoModeller for WCS is).

I am a family psychologist, licensed in a rural, U.S. state where my practice focuses on families and men's issues (not specifically 'men's rights.')

"Men's Issues" is an area of psychology that has gotten some professional attention but not enough to have a professional definition, as yet.

My sense is that mens issues are largely but not exclusively cultural in origin, ie, learned early.**

I have watched my own children over the years, two sons and two daughters. Sons and daughters are interested in holding, nurturing, managing little beings from nature, for example, but friends, neighbors, and peers are more likely to pay attention to my daughters nurturing a soft bird that was wounded and my boys containing a turtle. Others similarly will say to my kids after one throws a baseball: To daughters "Oh, you look good doing that." To sons, "You've got a good arm, boy." By the time my youngsters were in second grade the "boys will be boys," and the girls treated differently in our culture. And likely in all cultures.

Thus are formed, "men's issues," and "women's issues." Neither is more or less important, more or less worthy, more or less joyful or painful. But they differ, one from the other.

    This page consists of: (1) stuff I just happen to like, and (2) promising stuff for my category I ran across while surfing but haven't had time to review. The Internet is HUGE! I didn't realize how huge until now. I think all those "free webpages" people are doing a greater social service than they know. How many times have you heard "isolation" given as a reason that some lost soul "slipped over the edge"? Well, anybody with access to the Internet can now hook up with, or at least view the sites of, hundreds of people with the exact same obsession. I see this as a tremendous social stress-reliever. Not to mention that all those people are now glued to the chair in front of their computers 24 hours a day instead of, well, whatever....
