Alan Rickman - English actor, born 21st February 1946, Hammersmith, London.

Initially a graphic designer, at 26 he applied to RADA, and spent three years there.

Has appeared in variety of roles, including 'Die Hard' (1989) as Hans Gruber, 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' (1991) as the Sherrif of Nottingham, 'Truly Madly Deeply' (1992) as Jamie, and as Professor Severus Snape in the 'Harry Potter' films.
