Mandrill

Websites about Mandrill. The band formed in 1970, produced albums into the 1980's, went on hiatus, and have been back on stage since 1997.

Meters, The

Websites about The Meters, the New Orleans funk band founded in 1967. Disbanded in 1979, they reformed and regrouped in 1989. In 1994 they changed the band's name to The Funky Meters.

Ohio Players, The

Parker, Maceo

Websites about Maceo Parker, the sax player originally with James Brown and later Parliament-Funkadelic.

Porter, George, Jr.

Websites about the bass player and performer George Porter, Jr. His career began in the 1960's, several years before joining The Meters, a band he is still with today. He's collaborated with many artists and also is recording and performing with his band Runnin Pardners.

Tower of Power

Formed in the late 1960's in Oakland, California, the funk/soul band Tower of Power continues to perform and record. The horn section is renowned for its studio work with many performers.
