Dobro player Jerry Douglas has been a part of many top acts and over 1000 albums; his sound has had a wide influence in country, bluegrass, and rock music. Douglas was voted the Academy of Country Music's Specialty Instrumentalist of the Year in 2002.

Born in 1927 as David Gordon Kirkpatrick, Slim Dusty became one of Australia's most prolific recording artists and released 106 albums with estimated combined sales of 6 million. He was known outside Australia for his 1957 worldwide hit A Pub With No Beer, and for performing Waltzing Matilda at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Slim Dusty died on 19th September 2003 after a long battle with cancer.
