Carter Family

The original Carter Family - A.P., Sara, and Maybelle Carter - were one of the pioneering groups of country music, and one of its most popular for nearly two decades.

Maybelle Carter later performed and recorded with her daughters Helen, Anita, and June (who later married Johnny Cash).

In the 1950s, A.P. and Sara resumed performing under the Carter Family name with their children, Janette and Joe.

Joe Carter passed away on 2 March 2005, June Carter Cash on 15 May 2005, and Janette Carter on 22 January 2006, marking the end of the second generation of the Carter family.

June's daughter Carlene Carter has achieved international success in her own right.

Cash, Rosanne

Rosanne Cash is the daughter of country music legend Johnny Cash and in the 1980s became a country star, having 15 straight top ten country singles, including "Seven Year Ache," "Never Be You," "My Baby Thinks He's A Train," "Blue Moon With Heartache," "It's Such A Small World" (a duet with then-husband Rodney Crowell) and "I Don't Know Why You Don't Want Me." By the 1990s Cash started making more personal, folk/rock based albums like "Interiors" (1990), "The Wheel" (1993) and "The Rules of Travel" (2003).

Born Miriam Johnson on May 25, 1947, in Phoenix, AZ, Jessi Colter was an important country music rebel in the 1970s, breaking from Nashville Music Row and their soft pop stylings. Colter was also wife of Waylon Jennings and mother of Shooter Jennings.

Colter's breakthrough song was "I'm Not Lisa" released in 1975, and she was one of the four featured artists on the famous RCA release "Wanted! The Outlaws" in 1976.
