| Performing Groups, eg. Choirs, should be submitted to the appropriate subcategory. If a group is regionally interesting, a duplicate submission can be made to the relevant Regional or World category. |
Most "Performing Groups" call themself "choir" or some variety like "chorus", "chorale" or "choral society". Smaller groups, like trios or quartets, are also considered performing groups.
| Also see separate subcategories for men's, women's, and mixed singing groups. |
While the term chamber choir once meant a small singing group, one with sixteen singers or less, groups of any size now use the term. This category shall list groups referring to themselves as chamber vocal ensembles, regardless of size.
|
Girls' choirs should be submitted to the special category under Children's Choirs instead. Please note too that there are special categories for Barbershop Groups and Feminist Choirs. |
Category for all-female choirs.
|
Boys' choirs should be submitted to the special category under Children's Choirs instead. Please note too that there is a special category for Barbershop groups. |

Mixed choirs are SATB choirs (divided into Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass). The general Mixed Choirs category is meant primarilly for classical Symphonic or Oratorio choirs of 30-40 singers or more.Smaller choirs, performing mainly chamber music, belong to the Chamber Choir category. Special categories exist for mixed choirs singing gospel or a cappella music.
Youth Choirs include high school, college and university choirs.
