Romantic composer Edouard Lalo (1823-1892) was also a violinist and many of his works feature this instrument. He also wrote other orchestral and chamber pieces, lieder, operas, and a ballet. Notable works include Symphonie Espagnole and the opera Le Roi d'Ys.
