Czech composer Radomir Istvan (1959-), the son of Miloslav, slowly grew out of his father's shadow and developed his own compositional voice. In 1989 he became teacher of composition and theory at the Brno Conservatory of Music. He was named head of the school's Department of Music Theory in 1996. His early instrument was the piano and he later played double-bass; he became an accomplished pianist, accompanying the Brno Academy of Dance.
