Competitions for fellowships or residencies that support creative or academic work. Compositions of specific instrumentation are rarely required for such applications. Items in this category include the MacDowell Colony, The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowships, The American Academy in Rome, and so on.
