Taff, Russ

Sites related to versatile baritone and songwriter Russ Taff. He joined the Imperials, a southern gospel group, in 1976. After five years with the group, he embarked on a solo career in Contemporary Christian Music, as a rocker. Three-time winner of the Dove for Best Male Vocalist, he later recorded a Christmas album as well as a Grammy-winning tribute to his traditional (Black) gospel influences. In 1995, the album "Winds of Change" was his entry in the country music arena. In 1999, he returned to Christian music, and at the beginning of 2002 he joined the Gaither Vocal Band.

This category is about Bradford rock band Terrorvision, they were formed in 1986 which the moniker 'Spoilt Bratz' (Yes they *were* glam!).

In 1990 the Spoilt Bratz changed their name to the more modern sounding `Terrorvision', after a cult 1960's horror movie of the same name (in which aliens come down through a man's TV set and eat his family).

They're biggest success to date (July 2000) was with 'Tequila' which hit #2 in the UK charts, beaten only by The Offsprings 'Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)'. They were dropped by EMI 5 months after this high. The story continues with the new label...

They are sort of progressive-rockish in that their music is very different from most other people today and they have lots of samples and the like in their music. Turner, Big Joe

Big Joe Turner (1911-1985) was a jazz, R&B, and Memphis blues singer. The premiere blues shouter teamed up with Pete Johnson during the 1930s and '40s. Their performance at the Spirituals to Swing concert at Carnegie Hall in 1938 kicked off a boogie-woogie craze. He first hit the R&B chart in 1946 and had a hit each year from 1950-1956. His version of "Shake, Rattle and Roll" was on the charts for 27 weeks. He turned to jazz, recording on the Pablo label, during the 1970s and '80s.

Big Joe Turner was inducted into the Blues Foundation's Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

Lena Katina: born in Moscow on October 4th, 1984. Attended an average Russian high school.

Yulia Volkova: born in Moscow on February 20th, 1985. Upon finishing the 9th grade entered the "State Musical Variety and Jazz Arts School", department of variety singing.

Both Lena and Yulia sang in the children's group "Neposedy". The girls came together again during a casting that took place at the Mosfilm studio. They were selected independently out of 500 contenders.

The group's name is spelled "Taty" in the Russian Cyrillic character set (still pronounced "Tatoo"), and means "this girl -- that girl" or "this girl loves that girl".

Their first album, "200Km/hr In The Wrong Lane", has been a huge international success in both Eastern and Western Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
