Grand Funk Railroad is a hard rock band from Flint, Michigan, formed in 1968 by guitarist and songwriter Mark Farner and drummer Don Brewer. They were joined by bassist Mel Schacher, formerly of ? and the Mysterians.The band quickly gained popularity and in 1972 they were joined by keyboardist Craig Frost. After a lawsuit with former manager Terry Knight, the band shortened their name to Grand Funk and continued recording until 1976.
Since then Grand Funk has reformed in various incarnations, the last being a reunion tour in 1997 and 1998. Since then, Mark Farner has continued with his solo career and Grand Funk Railroad has reformed with the addition of three new members.

Grateful Dead formed in 1965 as The Warlocks, and began playing at Ken Kesey's Acid Tests. The group was influenced by many genres, including rock, country, folk and blues.They released many studio albums, but it was their live shows that won them legions of dedicated fans, known as Deadheads. The group took a hiatus in the 70s and in the 80s, and continued touring until August 9 1995, when front man Jerry Garcia died.
Since then the group (Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and various others who have joined them in the past and present) have played together as The Other Ones, and most recently as The Dead. Their Wave That Flag Summer Tour 2004 is currently touring the USA.

Dominican musician Jose Luis Guerra trained in classical and jazz guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts. In the 1980s returned to the Dominican Republic to form the group 440, which was instrumental in developing the popular "bachata merengue" style. After much success in Lating America, he won his first Latin Grammy in 1991. Guerra's music continued to evolve, incorporating African soukou and other influences.Guerra's socially conscious album Areito, with the single "Rain Like Coffee" caused controversy in the Dominican Republic for speaking out against inequities that Guerra had never personally experienced.
Guerra is noted for attention to detail. 440 got its name a standard frequency, after his brother observed the group's attention to staying in perfect tune. Guerra's work has also received a Latin Grammy award for album engineering.
