Based on a true story about a 3000 mile horse race in the Arabian Desert. In 1890, Frank T. Hopkins (Viggo Mortensen) a Pony Express courier, is invited to enter the race by a Sheik (Omar Sharif). Hopkins was once the US calvary's best rider. Hildalgo is the spunky mustang horse who races against the best Arabian horses and riders in the land.
