Journalist, historian, and media personality. Pierre Berton was born and raised in the Yukon. He has been managing editor of Maclean's magazine, associate editor and columnist at the Toronto Star, and the host and writer of several television shows. His books include Klondike, The National Dream, The Last Spike, and The Promised Land.

Fiorito, Joe

Toronto based journalist and author. Fiorito's works include The Closer We Are to Dying and Tango on the Main.

Frye, Northrop

1912-1991 Herman Northrop Frye was an internationally recognized scholar, editor, lecturer, and critic. His many awards include the Governor General's Literary Award for Non-Fiction for Northrop Frye on Shakespeare and the Royal Bank Award for distinguished contributions to Canadian literature. In 1972, he was made a Companion of the Order of Canada.

Gzowski, Peter

Author, broadcaster, columnist, and literacy advocate. Peter Gzowski hosted CBC Radio's Morningside for fifteen years. His books include The Sacrament, The Game of Our Lives, and Friends, Moments, Countryside.

Howard, Irene

Kostash, Myrna

Born and raised in Edmonton, Myrna Kostash is the author of several non-fiction books and magazine articles. Her work includes Bloodlines: A Journey Into Eastern Europe, All of Baba's Children, and The Doomed Bridegroom: A Memoir.

Saul, John Ralston

John Ralston Saul's non-fiction works include The Unconscious Civilization and The Doubter's Companion - A Dictionary of Aggressive Common Sense. His fiction works include The Birds of Prey and The Field Trilogy.

Saul is married to Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada.

Suzuki, David

Geneticist, activist, environmentalist, broadcaster, and author. British Columbia native David Suzuki is the author of many books, including Introduction to Genetic Analysis, Genethics, and Sacred Balance: Rediscovering Our Place in Nature. He also hosts the CBC-TV show, 'The Nature of Things', and is the Chair of the David Suzuki Foundation.

Woodcock, George

1912-1995 Critic, poet, editor, and anarchist writer. In 1959, he founded Canadian Literature, the first journal devoted entirely to Canadian writing. Internationally, he is best known for his books on the philosophy of anarchism and its history, and for his biography of George Orwell, The Crystal Spirit.

Wyman, Max

Book review editor for the Vancouver Sun and dance historian. Max Wyman's books include Dance Canada: An Illustrated History, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet - The First Forty Years, and Evelyn Hart: An Intimate Portrait.

Zolf, Larry

Zuehlke, Mark
