Zelazny's series of 10 books and several short stories about a family that can travel between "shadow" dimensions (Earth is just one), and the "one true world", Amber, they struggle to rule. The series spawned several MUSHes and a role playing game and most recently a new series of books by John Gregory Betancourt set in the Amber universe.
