Idella Parker was born in 1914 in the small community of Reddick, Florida. She may be best known as Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' maid, a job she held for ten years. Almost thirty years after Rawlings' death, Parker, with Mary Keating, wrote her first book, Idella: Marjorie Rawlings' "Perfect Maid". Her second book, written with Bud and Liz Crussell, Idella Parker: From Reddick to Cross Creek was published in 1999.
