Blackstar first aired in the US on CBS, in 1981-82. It was later released in syndication and on several commercial videotapes. The series followed the adventures of an astronaut, John Blackstar, flung through a black hole to Planet Sagar. Blackstar's success as a TV show and as a line of action figures paved the way for Filmation's syndicated He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
